The Artists:

Martin Tétreaut is an internationally-renowned Montreal DJ improviser originally from the visual arts milieu. His has produced several CDs and stage performances with numerous collaborators notably Diane Labrosse, René Lussier, Jean Derome, Michel F Côté, I8U, Otomo Yoshihide, Kevin Drumm, Xavier Charles, Ikue Mori and many others. Abandoning the musical citation, on which his work was developed since its beginnings in 1985, he now explores the intrinsic qualities of the turntable: motor noises, parasitic sounds, etc. He also uses needles and prepared surfaces (thank you John Cage) and small electronic instruments. True to analog broadcasting, this noise approach allows him to not have to answer the question: “ What about copyrights? ” as well as to no longer be invited to electronic music manifestations (!). When he wants a break from music, he returns to visual arts where he sands, scratches and cuts out books, magazines…

Olivier Girouard draws inspiration for his work in the “bends”: a link between two concomitant ideas, the transformation of the relief of sound. He reinvents the way we relate to sound through several collaborations with dancers and visual artists.

Involved in the production and the promotion of sound art, Girouard is also the Artistic director of the collective Ekumen. Olivier has received several awards, namely the SOCANFoundation’s Hugues-LeCaine prize, 1st place, in 2008 and the 1st place of the JTTP prize in 2009. His work has been presented in North and South Americas and in Europe.

Review – The Illusion of Infinitesimal – (Baskaru) 2014 – tapage nocturne – radio france

The Illusion of Infinitesimal on Baksaru 027 – 2014

Valence on LINE  054 – 2012

The cosmos is delicate, exact and sound is a proof. You notice it when you listen carefully or when a sonic experience takes you out of yourregular reality to a new perception of the real, which is what Valence, a sound work by artist France Jobin does, making sound to flow in such subtle ways, giving the feeling of being crafted in molecular environments. It is scientific but mystical, feels modern but ancient. Is a journey created between the arcane technology of listening and the current methods of recording/processing, building a theatre of atoms capable of creating wonderful microscopic structures of audio signals. The artist becomes a bridge between complexity and emptiness, putting the listener into a minimalist habitat created as a tribute to infinity. Pure tones, melodic particles and a constant reverberation oforbitals frequencies able to create a special state of mind where the only existing universe is sonic.

The Illusion of Infinitesimal on Baksaru 027 – 2014

One single point, to another single point. With no time, only sound. Listening is maybe the art of touching the infinite, at least when sound comes in such delicate way as France Jobin does it on her latest album. It allows to listen to a wave of silence, besides the sonic one. The artist becomes a creator of inaudibility, using the finest structures of auditory phenomena in order to establish a field of merging where the work speaks clear by leaving a question floating: infinite listening or infinite sound? Maybe what we listen is just an endless dream, a silent memory that can be found in the most basic and delicate forms of audio, which are only obtained if a quest for equilibrium is set, as Jobin wisely says, “a chance to refine the unique essence of each sound and composition, in an effort to better communicate intent without influencing its unfolding, a delicate balance between perfection and detachment”.

The Illusion of Infinitesimal on Baksaru 027 – 2014

Review – The Illusion of Infinitesimal – (Baskaru) 2014 – Rifraf

The Illusion of Infinitesimal on Baksaru 027 – 2014

Troisième,  ‘The Illusion Of Infinitesimal’ de FRANCE JOBIN, ex-claviériste de blues (si,
