Following the success of the previous 7 VOLT-AA evenings which, presented
\nin an optimal sound environment, unique electronic music works by I8U,
\n\u00c6lab, Alexandre St-Onge, Alexandre Burton, Deadbeat, Ensemble, Martin
\nT\u00e9treault, Helen of Troy, Tim Hecker, Mylena Bergeron, Francisco Lopez,
\nKaffe Matthews, Champion, Skoltz-Kolgen, Herri Kopter, D\u00b9Iberville, Orazio
\nFantini, Paarcand and Christof Migone, we are happy to announce the
\npresentation of Volt-AA (08).<\/p>\n

This program, focusing on contemporary computer and electronic music,
\nintroduces an unexpected clash between four composers; three belonging to
\nthe avant-garde of the digital era; the fourth, Jean-Pierre Gauthier, a
\nrenowned contemporary artist for whom sound and kinetic mechanisms have no
\nsecrets.
\nGauthier will meet with : US minimalist composer Richard Chartier in his
\nlong awaited first appearance in Montreal since Mutek 2000, Cal Crawford,
\none of the most talented young composers of contemporary Canadian music,
\nwhose minimal works combine rigorous sound research as well as risk taking,
\nand I8U, who makes a return to Volt-AA following a long period of sound
\nresearch and exploration to present yet another fascinating journey into
\ndigital manipulation of field and studio recordings.<\/p>\n

\n(Espagne), Kaffe Matthews (Angleterre), Champion, Skoltz-Kolgen, Herri
\nKopter, D\u00b9Iberville, Orazio Fantini, Pierre-Andr\u00e9 Arcand, Christof Migone,
\nNancy Tobin, David Kristian, Gert-Jan Prins (Pays-Bas), Mathieu L\u00e9vesque,
\nvoici, en d\u00e9cembre 2003, le 8e et non le moindre volet de VOLT-AA. Une
\nsoir\u00e9e pour ceux qui d\u00e9sirent \u00e9couter.<\/p>\n

Ce programme d’\u00e9coute de musiques informatiques et \u00e9lectroniques
\ncontemporaines vous offre une collision artistique entre des compositeurs \u00e0
\nl\u00b9avant-garde des logiciels de composition informatique et un compositeur
\npatenteux, artiste contemporain de renom pour qui les m\u00e9canismes cin\u00e9tiques
\nn\u00b9ont plus de secrets, Jean-Pierre Gauthier. C\u00b9est aussi la visite tr\u00e8s
\nattendue de Richard Chartier qui, lors de MUTEK en 2000, combla les
\noreilles des amateurs de recherches sonores minimales. C\u00b9est avec un grand
\nplaisir que nous l\u00b9accueillons de nouveau, lui offrant les conditions pour
\nune performance peu commune. Aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Jean-Pierre Gauthier et de
\nRichard Chartier, VOLT-AA (08) accueille Cal Crawford, un jeune compositeur
\nde musique contemporaine canadienne des plus prometteurs ; ses \u00a6uvres
\nfinement conceptualis\u00e9es allient une recherche rigoureuse, le go\u00fbt du
\nrisque et de l\u00b9inattendu. I8U nous revient une seconde fois depuis le d\u00e9but
\ndes soir\u00e9es VOLT-AA. Nous appr\u00e9cions ses pi\u00e8ces
\nqui sont de longs et captivants voyages drain\u00e9s par un savant alliage de
\nprises de sons en direct et de manipulations effectu\u00e9es dans la chaleur de
\nson foyer. Nul doute que sa toute nouvelle pi\u00e8ce surprendra plus d\u00b9un de
\nses fervents \u00ab \u00e9couteurs \u00bb.<\/p>\n
